With the first month of the New Year behind us, the motivation to remain focused on our goals starts to dwindle. Here are 5 tactics helping us stay focused and on track towards our goals!
Renew Your Motivation
Reminding ourselves why we decided to make a change or set a goal is a very important step on the road to progress.
We suggest subtle reminders like setting a notification in your phone or sticking a Post-it on your mirror. These nudges help push you forward during those times where you aren’t quite feeling that 5 AM run, or 45-minute workout.
Don’t Let Speed Bumps Slow You Down
We all hit snags in the road and can feel disappointment when we don't see immediate changes. It’s important to remember that change takes time and that it's not about being perfect. It’s all about continuing your personal growth and achieving the goals you thought were so far away.
Every day we get closer to those goals!
Solid Support System
Having a solid foundation beneath you is key to building yourself up. Make sure you talk about your goals with your friends and family. They may also be doing similar challenges/goals and can offer advice and support to help you stay on track.
Don’t Forget to Reward Yourself
You always need to find ways to treat yourself. Whether it’s taking a break from studying to go out for a nice walk, going on a hike to change the scenery, or even just simply taking a day off, each little reward helps remind you why you’re doing this. It also helps keep that motivation in the forefront of your mind.
At the end of the month it might be time to evaluate your progress. Has my strategy been working? What can I do differently? Am I still on track?
Once you have the answers to these questions you give yourself the road map to continue your goals not only through one month, but for the rest of the year!
