"I’ve been coming three months to get food here. It helps me out a lot for my family — we’re five people,” Nancy, a mother and a housekeeper, said about the Presbyterian Church of Valley Stream Food Pantry Pop Up in Valley Stream, New York.
The pantry is hosted by the Long Island Cares Food Bank.

“This is helping out a lot,” she said. “It’s only me working [to support] three children.”
Her youngest, Matthew, was returning to school soon, but for only two days a week. The pantry has been a saving grace for Nancy as she supports her family during the challenges of the pandemic.
“They’re nice people, they’re here all the time,” she said, of the volunteers at the pantry. “I can spend money to pay my bills, so this is helping a lot.”
